So I am on week 3 of my English Writing II with only 2 weeks to go. I have felt "blah" about this class up until now. I am not sure if it is the excitement of the research paper or that I am reading a new book and I have been inspired to write. Eitherway I have only 2 weeks left and a 7-8 page research paper to write.
On to the book I recently picked up, The Time Traveler's Wife. Ok, 160 pages into it and I am really enjoying reading the book. It is a first person from Clare and from Henry's point of view. It is a bit confusing to keep up with the time but I am getting the hang of it.
Now an update on my projects. Well, there is nothing to report really. I have not worked on anything in over 2 weeks. Tonight I will work on my pinwheel quilt, 4 blocks need to be completed. Yeah!! Then I have a charm pack that will be coming in that I will be making a baby quilt out of.
So here is the final update for today: Ian has been doing great with going to bed with no bottle. It was easier than we thought it would be.
Oh, I almost forgot...we made a but purchase last night: an entertainment center and a 46" tv. We have a tv that works but it would look too small in the entertainment center that fits a 52" tv. I am excited about the purchase even though it was more than I wanted to spend. We are using our taxes to pay for it.
Sunday we decided "enough with the bottle to bed" and put Ian our 2 year old to bed minus the beloved bottle. That first night was tough with about 60 mins of constant crying behind his locked bedroom door. Monday, yesterday, it was down to 30 mins of crying and he woke up one time. Tonight, oh the sound of silence, well I had mostly silence from the little man as he was upset for 5 mins total then fell asleep. Needless to say we had to put lemon juice (pure) in the bottle to show him that it's nasty and time to throw it away. Todd deals with nap time, not a fun time, so I have no comments on that success.
Overall it was not too bad to wean him from the bottle. The most exciting part was tossing out the bottles and the brush. Now we won't have to invest in a dairy farm, guess I can use that money for some more fabric or something I need (bag or acrylic table for my machine). Here's to hoping.
Oh, on another note, my father-in-law is still in the hospital but is doing well.
What I thought was going to be a great start to my weekend turned out not to be the case. Friday was going to be date night with our good friends since we both had sitters. The moment I got home from work I received a call that my father-in-law was being transferred to the trauma ICU because he had a stroke. This is news no one wants to receive, no matter what day or time it is.
Between emotions and sleeplessness, exhaustion set in for me on Saturday and I got really cranky. I didn't do much, but does it matter in the grand scheme of things? So early to bed for me.
My dreaded paper has stared me in the face for too long so I made it a point to attack it this afternoon only to be interupted every 2 mins by the kids. It's finished and in no way a masterpiece. Hey, it's finished and at this point that is all that matters.
So to end the crazy weekend we decided that today is the day we end the bottle of milk to bed for Ian. Yes, we are love to torture kids and ourselves...that is so not the case. It was around 30 mins of crying and banging on the door but he ultimately jumped in bed and passed out. It is time, no more bottle little man. ((Good luck tomorrow Todd, nap time will be fun for you))
All in all, it was a crummy weekend, more so for my in-laws. Dinner out kept our spirits up as good friends know how to do that. The good news is my father-in-law is doing very well given what he has gone through and what the outcome could have been.
This is beyond me. I have had the assignment to write and 2-3 page argumentative paper on a controversial subject. I thought about discussing my views on the Pledge of Allegiance however I got nowhere on the subject. I have switch gears and decided that Same-sex marriage is something I can argue my points on my beliefs (which I will keep to myself at this time).
I sat at my computer doing research and typing a few words in a Word document and 2 hours later, I have little to show for my effort. Today I have taken another 2 hours and devoted time to this silly little paper, and yes I still have little to show and what I do have it is not very good.
So for now I will vent my frustration instead of spinning my wheels trying to organized my thoughts.
It is not my personality to argue. I feel that what I right may offend the reader and that is not my intention. My goal is to defend my position but what is making that so hard to do? Enough for now.
We had success. After reading the instructions over twice we were able to figure out how to get 4- 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 squares from a 10 x 10 piece of fabric...you need two 10 x 10 squares of the same fabric. (This was not explained in the beginning). Luckily I had a newer Moda Layer cake that has 2 squares of each fabric.
For this project I chose the Moda Layer cake Swanky by Chez Moi and for the back ground I picked a Moda Marble that is white with a creamy green/yellow marble to soften the white.
So here are the final blocks for week one. After only 2 hours of work I like how they turned out. The pink dotted block was used from fabric I did not like very much but cut up and put together I now like it.
I am very excited for tonight when I get to start working my Pinwheel Sampler quilt that my friend Sondra encouraged me to do. I am not sure what is more exciting, starting a new project or working on a project together (we are creating separate quilts of course). We came across the 12 week quilt along on one our our favorite blogs, P.S. I Quilt. We have our fabric and will work on the first week assignments, blocks 1 & 2. I will post photos of my fabrics along with the finish blocks in a few days.
As I create this 'new blog' I question: What is the purpose? Hell if I know. I figure since I have so many blogs I follow why not create my own to jot down my own thoughts or show the world what quilts or crafty projects I am working on. I have been told on several occasions that journaling will help me become a better writer but I never gave into that advice, until now I guess. So here I am giving it a shot.
I named this blog "Inspiration of Bean" but I am always look for inspiration whether it is from the internet, magazines, books or my family. I suppose I can post the happenings in my life that inspire me to be creative and busy. Who knows where this will lead me, only time will tell.
I am married to a wonderful man who is a stay-at-home father so I work full-time to support our happy family. I have a 5 year old daughter and 2 year old son who mean the world to me. I am crafty and love to create. Sewing is my new found love and when I have the time I enjoy a good book.
